Christopher Zema

I always had the desire to do fine woodturning, to create beautiful and unusual work from a piece of rough wood. I love the old and classic forms, and try to incorporate these into my work.

About six years ago I began turning mostly salad bowls, but soon wanted to create more artistic pieces. My style became more and more refined, and I experimented with inlaying.

Now I inlay many of my pieces, using mainly turquoise, but occasionally some mother of pearl, malachite, abalone shell, or pink coral.

I am completely self-taught, both with woodturning and inlaying, but having had previous experience in machine shop work helped me in the right direction. Every piece I make is one-of-a-kind. I love what I do and spend many hours in my workshop.
