"I like to make things." This is really the heart of my work and my nature. When I was growing up, my father was a carpenter and I often played on job sites. This meant that I was in interesting spaces with lots of materials to make things with. Then, as now, I was stimulated by questions – can this fit here? What happens when these things are put together? If this fits here, will that fit there? These were the roots of my life as a self-taught artist.
I started working with stained glass in 1987 and have been working with glass ever since. The jewelry I make is the outgrowth of a window project that called for dichroic glass to be combined with glass rods and jewels. As I was working on the project, I found myself asking familiar questions…what happens when these things are put together?…does this go with that?…The result was a new and wondrous form of jewelry that is as intriguing and inspiring to wear as it is to make.
