Restaurants

American

Hershey's Restaurant
17030 Oakmont Avenue - Washington Grove at Shady Grove Road 301-948-9893
"No, the owners aren't "those" Hersheys, but the place has its own traditions. Grandma's fried chicken was introduced in 1952 and still outsells every item on the menu. The interior is divided between a neighborhood bar and a dining room. Get a table near the big windows - great for train watching!"

Outta the Way Cafe
Rockville/Derwood (301) 963-6895
"Yummy American-style food, good portions, reasonably priced plus live entertainment." Recommended by Barbara Krieger.

Roy's Place
2 East Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg (301) 948-5548
"This 40+ year old eatery is famous for sandwiches.....
If you're in the mood for sandwiches, also try Pelican Pete's in Germantown and Fingers & Claws in Gaithersburg.

Asian

A & J Restaurant
1319-C Rockville Pike 301-251-7878
"This casual, cash only, Formica-tabled shopping-strip storefront serves the kind of exotic dishes you'll find in San Francisco's Chinatown. It's a rock-bottom-priced cafe with a 3 page menu of big soups and small dishes." Recommended by Washington Post food critic Phyllis Richman.

Sushi Chalet
Festival Shopping Center on Muddy Branch in Gaithersburg
301-948-7373
Fabulous buffet, great value for the money; one mile from fairgrounds.
